24/ 7 Unconditional Love!

Poor Reagan! Our black lab, Reagan has been having lots of trouble lately with her front legs. She has been diagnosed with arthritis and neuropathy. We have also been told that she has no cartilage between her elbow joint on her right leg which causes great pain. She has compensated by walking on more than just her pads, but also her wrist. This has caused her to be flat footed on her right foot. Her foot looks extremely long compared to the other. We are ordering her a carpal brace that she will wear forever...along with a new "pill regimen" 4 in the morning and 2 in the evening. She has scored her own pill case and about a package of hot dogs a week (it is how I hide the pills) Poor baby! - but we will do what it takes. We love our Reagan!!

Happy 4th Of July!

Happy 4th Of July!

This morning we all headed to downtown Round Rock for the annual 4th of July Parade!

Bailey was invited to participate as a Boyscout and Kaci as a Girlscout!

We bought them each a 2 pound bag of candy to throw out as they went through the crowd. Bailey was going to ride the Boyscout float and Kaci was going to walk. Plans changed quick when found the group of Girlscouts....there were only about 5 of them and we didn't know any of them. So, Kaci decided to ride the float with the boys!

Even Papa came to watch us!

"Pack 565 Can't Be Beat!!"

Right before our float took off- Kaci's friend (and a girl from her troop) found us and joined Kaci at the back of the float!

Such good friendships are made through scouts! Love these goofy boys!

Love these beautiful girls!

The Cutest Kids on the Block!

With no fireworks to help us celebrate 4th of July- we joined the Walkers (Marty, Jessica, Romy and Reese) for dinner at Mesa Rosa tonight. We always have a great time when we are with them. The kids occupied themselves and eachother for almost 3 and a half hours at the resteraunt. This has to be a record!! Jessica got this picture of the kiddos on her phone. So cute! next time we will have to have the kids take a picture of the 4 grown ups. LOL!

Happy 4th of July!!

September 12- July 1st

If you are a reader of the blog- you may remember that back on September 12 Kaci started an experiment to see how long it would take her to fill a water bottle with her diabetic medical supplies; test strips, needles, pokes, empty insulin vials, lantus pens etc. It has been about 10 months since we started saving.

Here is what a small water bottle looked like just 2 days after we started this little experiment.

Here is what the bottle looked like 7 days after the experiment.

*NOTE* When we are home - we do our very best to make sure that every "sharp" and test strip makes it into one of our "experiment bottles" - but there are many times when we are not at home and they are disposed of in other places. For example....when Kaci is at school, all of those supplies are put in the school's sharp bin. When we are out of town on vacation- we dispose of them in a bottle there. So, even thought it has been almost 9 months now- there are lots of supplies that are not included in our little experiment here.

This is what our experiment looks like now. WOW! Can you imagine all those pokes and needles? This is not even a years worth of what we use.

We will keep saving. I will post again on September 12th so we can see what a year looks like.

Kaci is getting her blood work done today down by Dell Children Hospital. She is not very happy about it and I am not looking forward to it either. She is one tough little girl! We are making the best of it and taking a big box of books to donate to the hospital before we go for her lab work. Then afterwards, she is choosing wherever she would like to go for dinner- possibly followed by a trip to Sam Moons!

Birds of a feather....flock together!

So good to see Brad this week. He came down to Austin for a few days before he flies out 0f Austin to Nebraska to see his family. We got to spend a whole day with him just hanging out. Meet up with him, Amber and Colton mid afternoon to see the movie Cars 2! Not bad- it was pretty cute! (maybe just a bit over the kids heads...but still held their attention!)

Afterwards I talked Brad in to making his famous macaroni and cheese! So good! We hung out at Amber's house and watched Toy Story 3.

A few weeks ahead, Amber had purchased some hair feathers and tools on Etsy. So, as a team- the 4 of us (Amber, Kaci, Brad and me) worked on figuring out how to get them in our hair! I think they turned out pretty darn cute~ Don't you?
