If you are a reader of the blog- you may remember that back on September 12 Kaci started an experiment to see how long it would take her to fill a water bottle with her diabetic medical supplies; test strips, needles, pokes, empty insulin vials, lantus pens etc. It has been about 10 months since we started saving.
Here is what a small water bottle looked like just 2 days after we started this little experiment.
*NOTE* When we are home - we do our very best to make sure that every "sharp" and test strip makes it into one of our "experiment bottles" - but there are many times when we are not at home and they are disposed of in other places. For example....when Kaci is at school, all of those supplies are put in the school's sharp bin. When we are out of town on vacation- we dispose of them in a bottle there. So, even thought it has been almost 9 months now- there are lots of supplies that are not included in our little experiment here.
This is what our experiment looks like now. WOW! Can you imagine all those pokes and needles? This is not even a years worth of what we use.
Kaci is getting her blood work done today down by Dell Children Hospital. She is not very happy about it and I am not looking forward to it either. She is one tough little girl! We are making the best of it and taking a big box of books to donate to the hospital before we go for her lab work. Then afterwards, she is choosing wherever she would like to go for dinner- possibly followed by a trip to Sam Moons!
