"Trick or Treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat." Unknown Author

I have read so much lately about how children should not be allowed to celebrate Halloween if they are from a Christian family. I think this is a load of poop! True, Halloween falls on October 31st, which is the eve of All Saints Day, which is a festival day celebrated by some Christian churches. However, the modern celebration of Halloween is not generally thought of as a Christian time of worship.

For children there is no religious significance involved in the day itself. When children go trick-or-treating or visit "haunted houses" at the local shopping center, they are not thinking about it as part of any religious belief or behavior. Children are just trying to "have fun" as they would at a movie or amusement park. They are playing dress up, having a night out with friends and getting some candy in the end.

There are many other things we do for fun, that are solely for entertainment. That’s what entertainment is..... Playing Candy Land or the Wii, for example, can be relaxing....it can occupy the time.

People should see trick or treating in the same light.... It’s just plain fun! So dress up, go out with your friends and get some candy!

"Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time.We are the ones we've been waiting for.We are the change that we seek"Obama

GO VOTE~ It is your responsibilty as an American citizen. It is not a OPTION it is a DUTY!When faced with impossible odds, generations of Americans have responded with a simple creed that sums up the spirit of a people: YES WE CAN!

Yesterday in Canton, Ohio- Senator Obama spoke to residents as he made his case for change during his closing argument.

"In one week, you can turn the page on policies that have put the greed and irresponsibility of Wall Street before the hard work and sacrifice of folks on Main Street. In one week, you can choose policies that invest in our middle-class, create new jobs, and grow this economy from the bottom-up so that everyone has a chance to succeed; from the CEO to the secretary and the janitor; from the factory owner to the men and women who work on its floor. In one week, you can put an end to the politics that would divide a nation just to win an election; that tries to pit region against region, city against town, Republican against Democrat; that asks us to fear at a time when we need hope. In one week, at this defining moment in history, you can give this country the change we need. ...At a moment like this, the last thing we can afford is four more years of the tired, old theory that says we should give more to billionaires and big corporations and hope that prosperity trickles down to everyone else. The last thing we can afford is four more years where no one in Washington is watching anyone on Wall Street because politicians and lobbyists killed common-sense regulations. Those are the theories that got us into this mess. They haven’t worked, and it’s time for change. That’s why I’m running for President of the United States. Now, Senator McCain has served this country honorably. And he can point to a few moments over the past eight years where he has broken from George Bush – on torture, for example. He deserves credit for that. But when it comes to the economy – when it comes to the central issue of this election – the plain truth is that John McCain has stood with this President every step of the way. Voting for the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy that he once opposed. Voting for the Bush budgets that spent us into debt. Calling for less regulation twenty-one times just this year. Those are the facts. And now, after twenty-one months and three debates, Senator McCain still has not been able to tell the American people a single major thing he’d do differently from George Bush when it comes to the economy. Senator McCain says that we can’t spend the next four years waiting for our luck to change, but you understand that the biggest gamble we can take is embracing the same old Bush-McCain policies that have failed us for the last eight years. It’s not change when John McCain wants to give a $700,000 tax cut to the average Fortune 500 CEO. It’s not change when he wants to give $200 billion to the biggest corporations or $4 billion to the oil companies or $300 billion to the same Wall Street banks that got us into this mess. It’s not change when he comes up with a tax plan that doesn’t give a penny of relief to more than 100 million middle-class Americans. That’s not change. ...The question in this election is not “Are you better off than you were four years ago?” We know the answer to that. The real question is, “Will this country be better off four years from now?”
What are you waiting for....GO BARACK THE VOTE!!!

Well, this past weekend was Kaci's turn to go the Hook 'Em Horns game with Papa, Dad and Amber! She has a blast. Too bad the weather wasn't quite as nice as it was when Bailey went the weekend before. But- she had no problem rolling her pants up and cooling off with a snow cone! She also tried the cotton candy, pizza and a coke!(I think she takes after her mom) A football game is fun, but trying all the food is the BEST part! Luckily Texas got out with another win~ It was an awesome game!

Bailey and I had tons of fun on our own at his friend's birthday party at Gatti Land. We ate pizza, played games and even tore open a pinata~ When the party was over- we moved to the "Sports Room"- filled up our sodas and got one more piece of pizza while we watched the Texas game on the big screen TV. We stayed until half time and then finished the rest of the game at home. It was another great Saturday~ HOOK 'EM~~~

"Think of giving not as a duty but as a privilege."John D. Rockefeller Jr

Well... we have our official count for our Trick or Treat for UNICEF boxes. Bailey collected $15.21and Kaci collected $14.87 . So all together they raised $30.08 for UNICEF! Not bad for our first year~ They both beat their goal which they had set at $10.00. We will be donating our money on the website on Halloween day and I will be matching the kids donation as well. We had lots of fun collecting the money and spreading the word about this great organization. Thank you to everyone who helped us out and you all know who you are! We appreciate you!

"Grandmas are moms with lots of frosting" UNKNOWN

Grandma with the Yellow Hair got to come and spend some time with us this week!
It was so much fun. She came down to help us out with Kaci's Fit 'n Fun Fall Wellness Walk on Wednesday, October 22.

All of the children were asked to invite their family and friends to participate in a 22 minute walk around the track at school. For every trip around the track-first graders earned one popsicle stick, visitors earned 2 popsicle sticks and teachers earned 3. At the end of the walk-the first grade class with the most popsicle sticks will earn the Fit n Fun Wellness Walk trophy~ There were lots of parents, brothers, sisters and even Grandparents there~ Kaci had her Grandma Yellow Hair, Pa Pa, Mom and Bailey there with her. All together we earned 51 sticks! The official winner will be announced on Friday and we will post who it is.

There will be another walk in the Spring....so we are currently all in training so that we can beat our count next time around! It was so much fun~

Grandma also got to see both of the kiddos new schools while she was here. They were so proud to show her off to their teachers and friends.

"Do you love me because I'm beautiful, or am I am beautiful because you love me?"Oscar Hammerstein, II

Today was haircut day!

We have the best hairdresser in the WORLD!
Just look how beautiful she made these two look.
Kaci got 4 inches cut off. We may go and get more cut
off, but we have to wait until after Halloween. We want to
make sure we have enough hair to braid to make our
Dorothy costume perfect! I don't know about you, but I
think Bailey's haircut makes him look more like Indiana
Jones! PERFECT!

"Happiness is having a large, loving, caring, close-knit family in another city." George Burns

Just kidding on the quote, Chad! ha We had a great time this past weekend visiting our Uncle Chad in Dallas. It was a crazy weekend to drive up...(with the UT vs. OU game on Saturday) but also a great time since the kids both had a 4 day weekend. Gave us time to pack beforehand....and rest afterwards! The drive up was long...but we made the best of it with games, drawing (thanks Aunt Christi) and watching movies!

We left Dad alone on Saturday to watch the game on TV while we went to Nash Farms to get in the Halloween spirit. It was so much fun and best of all it was ALL FREE! Kaci and Bailey got to paint pumpkins, go to the petting zoo, play ring toss the bull, play pumpkin bowling, grab a duckie, ride stick ponies and even go on a hayride around the farm. Then we went and ate at Taco Bueno!! We meet back up with Daddy at the house and he was in a great mood since Texas had won the game! Later that night we went and ate at Rainforest Cafe. At first, Bailey wasn't sure about the animals (or the big waterfall they sat us by) but once the food arrived...it was ALL GOOD!

The drive home was so much faster. Less traffic and a good nap made for a much better trip!
It was a great weekend!

We love you always!

Today was a great day! It started off at the dentist.....and yes, it was still a GREAT day!

We went to the best dentist office ever...with the nicest dentist ever! -and Kaci was the BIGGEST girl EVER! I am so proud of her! Her Daddy is too! She got to watch the Bee Movie and wear these super cool sunglasses so the bright light didn't hurt her eyes. We celebrated afterwards at Chick Fil A and then went on to pick Bailey up from school. When Daddy got home from work- he took us to Rudinos for dinner to celebrate with us again!

Bailey has had such a good week at school that we decided to celebrate by going to the Methodist Church Pumpkin Patch. They had the most pumpkins I think I have ever seen. Each of the kiddos got to pick one big one and one little one. Kaci choose a white one and we are going to paint a ghost face on it sometime before Halloween! I can't wait. Bailey picked a large orange one and we are going to carve it into a Jack O Lantern very soon. It looks like it will have TONS of guts.

Tonight both kiddos are sleeping well with their new kitten, Princess Missy. We need to add her to our family on the side page. Our first kitten, Patches, turned out to be way to wild for our house. She was a feral kitten and no matter how hard we tried, she did not enjoy it at our house. So....we got Missy, and she is definitely a lover not a fighter as you can see by the picture of her and Kaci together.

It was a great week and we are looking forward to an exciting weekend. We are driving to Dallas to see Uncle Chad! He is always so much fun to be around and the kids can't wait....me either!
