Way to go!!

Bailey had his Pack meeting tonight at the school for Boyscouts. They were awarded with prizes and patches for their popcorn sales this summer! Bailey received the $600 Club Patch (for selling over $600 in popcorn) He also received this really cool Rocket Launcher toy for selling over $1,000! Way to go, Bailey! You earned it by working hard this summer in the hot, hot sun and even getting stung by a bee on one of your shifts! Proud of you!

"The perfect Christmas tree? All trees are perfect!"

So, the little elves (Kaci and Bailey) were very busy today! After decorating our trees and yard at home- they decided to help out Aunt BerBer and Grandma Dee and PaPa with decorating their trees too! I think they did a great job! Amber's tree is sparkling bright....

...and so is Grandma Dee's! Let the holiday season begin!!

Happy Thanksgiving!

So, so, so much to be thankful for~

Enjoy the day and be blessed!

Happy Birthday, Mom!

I often contemplate my childhood, Mom.
I am a mother now, and so I know
Hard work is mixed together with the fun;
You learned that when you raised me long ago.
I think of all the things you gave to me:

Sacrifice, devotion, love and tears,
Your heart, your mind, your energy and soul--
All these you spent on me throughout the years.
You loved me with a never-failing love

You gave me strength and sweet security,
And then you did the hardest thing of all:
You let me separate and set me free.
Every day, I try my best to be

A mother like the mom you were to me.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Well... it's official. I am 36 years old today! Thanks to my wonderful family for making it a great day! We enjoyed watching Puss and Boots at the movies this weekend and celebrated tonight with a great dinner at Cracker Barrel. YUMMY! I got some awesome artwork from Kaci and Bailey- some great homemade coupons, a World Diabetes Day shirt, my favorite perfume, new shoes, some spending cash, Justin Bieber cd and doll- a yummy lunch in my honor at work. What more can a girl ask for?! Happy Birthday to ME!

Happy World Diabetes Day 2011!

I love NOVEMBER!

November is one of my favorite months! There are so many special days - Kaci's birthday, my birthday, my Mom's birthday, Thanksgiving- and this year....A 7 DAY TRIP TO DISNEY WORLD!!! November brings cooler weather, Christmas decorating, stew and chili dinners!

In the last few years we have also been able to add another special event to the month of November. November is Diabetes Awareness Month- and World Diabetes Day is celebrated every year on November 14. (which did I mention also happens to be MY BIRTHDAY?- Happy Birthday to ME!)

World Diabetes Day is the the primary global awareness campaign of the diabetes community. World Diabetes Day commemorates the birthday of Frederick Banting, who with his colleague Charles Best, discovered insulin in 1921.
The official UN symbol for diabetes is a simple ring in the same shade of blue as is used on the United Nations Flag and many other United Nations symbols. The ring symbol was chosen because it is easy to display and could even be painted on a wall or home-made banner. In addition, it occurs widely in nature and has been used in many cultures to symbolize unity, life, the globe and health.

TODAY IS WORLD DIABETES DAY!
S0- wear something BLUE to show your support!
And - Kiss a Diabetic...they need SUGAR too!

“If you can dream it, you can do it. Always remember that this whole thing was started with a dream and a mouse.” Walt Disney

It has been a rough couple of days for Bailey- well, really a rough week. He came down with a fever of 102 last Friday night that prevented him from going to the UT game with his PaPa, Dad and Aunt Amber on Saturday. He was fever free for most of the day (and not happy that he had to miss the game) - but fever spiked again to 102 on Saturday night. Feeling a little better on Sunday and well enough to go to school on Monday.

However, I got a call from the school nurse on Tuesday morning at 8:00 (school starts at 7:45) that Bailey had thrown up at school and was running a slight fever again! Thankfully-Papa was able to pick him up and keep him so that I could finish out my work day. I stayed home with him on Wednesday.

When he returned to school on Thursday- he was upset because he was behind on his school work. I assured him that he would catch up with everyone before long. He was most worried about being behind on his Living Museum project. Each second grader was asked to choose a famous person in history to research. On Friday the 18th- he will be part of a Living Museum, where parents and other students will be able to view them as "living statues" When their button is pushed- they will come to life telling you all about the person they are representing.

Well- long story short- Bailey choose to be Walt Disney-

After a rough week I decided it was time to do some shopping for his costume and hopefully cheer him up. Unfortunately- the first outfit I bought just made him frown more. So- when they went out with Clint tonight- I raced out to find something new! This outfit seemed to do the trick! Of course- we will add a moustache and some accessories for the *special day* but this was so cute I had to share! When he looked in the mirror and said, "Now that is Walt Disney!" I knew my job was done!

WALK!!!

Boyscouts Spaghetti Dinner

Tonight Bailey had a Boyscout meeting! Clint is usually the one that takes him, but he had to work late-so Mommy was "on the job"! I picked up a Starbucks and we were on our way. Kaci got to stay with Aunt Amber ~ Win! Win! Win!Tonight the boys worked together to cook their own Italian feast. The boys prepared spaghetti, salad, garlic bread sticks and dessert! YUMMO! They even set the table and helped served one anothers plates for the feast! Here is Bailey (with a little help from Mr. Scott) dropping the noodles into the boiling water! Bailey was also chosen to serve the noodles onto his friend's plates!

Here are Bailey and Jake enjoying a great meal!

After dinner, the boys were treated to these cool balloon race cars from Mr. Randall! SO FUN!!
They also created their Pine Derby car design at the meeting tonight! I am proud of my Boyscout. Love this boy to pieces!!!

Blue Friday: ONE

Today is the first BLUE FRIDAY for Diabetes Awareness Month. Here I am rockin' the blue sweater and the blue jeans! Did you wear blue today??

I counted money for a JDRF School Walk today! Then Mrs. Amy stopped by to bring me all the cool prizes and the totally AWESOME Pink Panther for next week! You see....today is the FIRST BLUE FRIDAY- and Monday will bring another first to this special month of November.

Monday is going to be the FIRST day I present for the JDRF School Walk Program. I am so excited....and a little bit nervous too! I will be teaching the students K-5th all about Diabetes (Type 1 and Type 2)

I hope the kids don't look as confused as Kaci does when I am done with my speech!

Silly girl!

Let me think about it for a minute!....Nah...they are going to know all about Diabetes (Type 1 and Type 2) and they are going to be ready to go out and raise money for this great organization that is so close to my heart! Let's go Monday- BRING IT!

The snail mail project!

World Diabetes Day is getting closer and closer- it will be here on November 14th~

A wonderful little lady named, Lee Ann Thill came up with the BEST idea EVER to help celebrate around the world! She came up with the "Snail Mail project" You can learn more about it over at her blog http://www.thebuttercompartment.com/ .

Basically (in her words) here are the rules:

Submit your address to leeann@thebuttercompartment.com. Receive an address. Make and send a postcard. Get a postcard... Spreading diabetes love around the globe from one mailbox to another for World Diabetes Day!

Description:
1) Send your address to leeann@thebuttercompartment.com2) Receive the address of your postcard recipient3) Use the blue circle and all the creativity you can fit on a piece of 3.5" x 5" card stock to create a postcard. Complete the short Diabetes Meme on the back. 4) Send your postcard before November 14th5) Receive a handmade postcard from someone living with diabetes!

I was so excited when I heard about this great project...I couldn't send her our names and addresses quick enough! If you know me---- you know I LOVE snail mail!

Here is the postcard that Bailey created for his buddy. His postcard will be heading all the way to California!

My postcard will be making it's way to Las Vegas!

And Kaci's postcard will be traveling all the way to Indiana.

And this is the postcard I made to send to Lee Ann! Thank you for getting this HUGE project together! Thank you for helping us feel like we are not alone in the D- Battle! We appreciate YOU!!!
