In acceptance there is peace....

now I just need to learn how to accept it......

Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
There's a place that I heard of
Once in a lullabye
Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue
And the dream that you dare to dream
Really does come true
One day I wish upon a star
Wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemondrops
Way upon the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me
Somewhere over the rainbow
Blue birds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why, oh why can't I?
Where troubles melt like lemondrops
Way upon the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me
Somewhere over the rainbow
Blue birds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why, oh why can't I?

"Walk to Cure Diabetes" October 31st at Mueller Lake Park 10 a.m.

As you know, Kaci was diagnosed with type 1 (juvenile) diabetes in July of 2009 (just about a month ago), and she is just 7 years old. She will be insulin-dependent for the rest of her life. She is subjected to 4 finger pricks and 4 shots every day. In addition to his rigorous blood testing and insulin shots, everything she consumes must be weighed and measured, and her blood levels, at times, need to be checked while she sleeps and plays. Kaci is always a trooper and rarely complains. As you all know, she is full of smiles, laughs, amidst her daily diabetes routine. Kaci continually amazes us and is a blessing to have in our lives as a daily reminder of spirit, humility, and a positive attitude.

There are many devastating diseases in our world right now, and that saddens us. The difference with juvenile diabetes is that wiping it out of existence is extremely attainable and within reach. Kaci often asks us, “When is my diabetes going to go away?” It’s a painful question to answer looking at her beaming and hopeful eyes. We feel confident a positive answer will be available before she goes to high school.

Please understand, we are not trying to have a pity session. We truly believe that out of every difficulty comes something good. As parents, it’s our instinct from the moment our kids are born to protect them from any harm. We must do everything in our power to help find a cure for her.

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) is the #1 non-profit funder of diabetes research worldwide. One of JDRF’s largest fundraising events is the “Walk to Cure Diabetes.”. This year’s walk will be held on Saturday. October 31st at Mueller Lake Park at 10:00 a.m.

If you are interested, there are three ways you can help us make a difference for Kaci:
· You can join our Family Team, which consists of family and friends who collect pledges and walk with us.
· Send your donation and contact others in your circle of family and friends to donate as well. Just contact us and we will send you a pledge form. If you choose to raise donations yourself, you may forward this letter or write your own.
· You can send our family a tax-deductible contribution in any amount, made payable to JDRF. We will deliver any donations in Kaci’s honor the morning of the Walk.

Thank you for helping our family team meet our goal of raising $300 this year. ($100 for each month since she has been diagnosed at the time of the walk) Thank you for your support and we would be honored to see you at the Walk on October 31st!

So proud of Kaci - High Handicap Series 328
WIW~ This is Bailey's FAVORITE trophy!

Kaci loves her BIG trophy too!
Silly boy!

Well, the summer bowling league has finally come to an end. I am so proud of the Pin Pals! They did a great job and had lots of fun (and we all know that is the most important part!) Here are the trophies they received at the end of league. Bailey got High Game Score 101 and Kaci got High Handicap Series 328 !! We are so proud of them. Bailey's trophy has joined us at the dinner table on many occassions and they both frequently ride in the car with us so that the kids can show them off to whoever we are going to visit!

"When I get where I'm going...there will be only happy tears" Brad Paisley

Bailey and C.J

Look how big B.J is!

He has a NEMO shell

Bailey has really enjoyed his new pet hermit crab, C.J.

We have fed him many different items off of his food list including: hermit crab food, grapes, carrots and even crackers.
Tonight we were going to treat him to some dogfood- but when we arrived at his cage we noticed that two of his legs were missing. Then- to our horror, when we picked him up- yet another of his legs fell off. So, needless to say- C.J. is no longer with us. We read on the internet that sometimes the trauma of leaving the ocean and being shipped or traveling to their new home can cause this to happen.

Bailey was very upset - C.J. was the best pet he had EVER had. Bailey wanted to bury him in the flower bed- so we found the perfect tiny silver box for him to rest in and Bailey wrote R.I.P C.J on the top. Clint played "When I Get Where I Am Going" by Brad Paisley as we laid him to rest.
Bailey also made a small headstone for him as well. It reads " R.I.P sad C.J"

Today we went and got a new hermit crab at PetSmart. His name is B.J. and he has a 14 day guarantee. I hope we don't have to use it. He is HUGE!! Wish us luck!

Happy Birthday, Dad!

Dear Dad-
You mean so very much to me,
And I want you to know
That you are always in my heart,
No matter where I go.
You're always giving, always there
To help in any way;
The loving things you've done for me,
I never could repay.
I can't imagine what I'd do
Without the love you give.
I'll treasure your sweet heart of gold
As long as I shall live.

“The cure for anything is salt water - sweat, tears, or the sea.” Isak Dinasen

We are back from our beach trip and boy did we have fun!! We missed Clint (he had to stay home and work) but enjoyed the extra time with Papa, Grandma Dee, Amber, Mark and Colton.
We stayed in an awesome condo- the Aransas Princess. It was beautiful and just what we all needed! I have lots of pictures to upload and lots more stories to tell....but the first thing I want to write about is our newest family member.
Bailey came back with the best souvenir of all...a new pet hermit crab named, CJ. Every time we go to the beach- you can always find Bailey at the hermit crab cage at the gift shop! He loves to watch them but has never asked if he could have one....so this trip...I just offered (after his cousin, Colton got one)
CJ is very friendly and does not shy away from us even when we hold him. His shell is very shiny and decorated like a football. We made a trip to PetSmart today to get him a cage, sand and even ended up picking up an extra shell (that is painted like Sponge Bob) just in case he gets tired of his football. We also bought a cute Sponge Bob and Patrick ceramic piece to help make his cage feel more like home and he loves climbing all over Patrick.
