Unless each day can be looked back upon by an individual as one in which he has had some fun, some joy, some real satisfaction, that day is a loss."

What a great weekend we had in Dallas. It is always a treat to visit Uncle Chad! We got in to town Friday night about 6, picked up Uncle Chad and headed straight to the movies. Toy Story 3 was AWESOME! Ate tons of popcorn, stayed up late and slept in on Saturday morning.

On Saturday- Clint and Bailey took in a baseball game - Astros vs. the Rangers with a few of Dad's friends. It was "Africa hot" and they didn't stay the whole game- but they did have a good time. Clint got one good shot of Bailey at the game!

Me, Kaci and Uncle Chad headed out to have lunch at Subway before we hit the shops! We spent a few dollars at Sam Moon and then took on Grapevine Mills Mall! It was a blast. We met up with Clint and Bailey back at Chad's house and Kaci got her "fancy" dress on and we headed out to Rainforest Cafe for dinner. Always fun and yummy!

* A few months back I had bought Kaci this adorable dress to wear to the Hope Ball...a large fundraising event for Juvenile Diabetes. Uncle Chad, Kaci and I planned to attend....until we found out that is was not really a child friendly event! So disappointing. So- we had to use this dress for something special - so we made it our weekend in Dallas*
I just love these pics of Kaci and Chad. I couldn't pick my favorite...

So, I had to post them all!

Kaci adores her Uncle Chad!

After dinner - he even treated Kaci and Bailey to a Build A Bear! I wonder why they like to go to Dallas all the time? It is the closest thing to Disney World! ha Stayed up late again and slept in a bit on Sunday-
Woke up Sunday morning- made a quick trip to Whataburger and then headed for Six Flags! It was pretty hot and we only got a few pictures on Clint's phone- but we had to make use of our season passes. Uncle Chad headed home to get some work done, and probably rest -after the tornado- which is our family, left the house. Thank you Chad for another great weekend in Dallas. You always spoil us rotten!

Buy Frostys ....help JDRF!

Wendy's holds a one-month promotion beginning in mid-July in which customers at participating Austin area Wendy’s restaurants can purchase a Frosty Coupon Book for $1.00. Each book includes four (4) coupons, good for a Free Small Frosty. All proceeds from the sale of coupon books goes to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. We went today and bought 25 of them! The lady behind the register was so excited! They were having a competition to see who could sell the most. I think I put her in first place! Go get your book- they are only good while supplies last and the coupons NEVER expire!

Seventy-five percent of our planet is water - can you swim?

Kaci and Bailey love to go to the pool! Kaci and Bailey love to go to the beach. Clint loves to go to the pool! Clint loves to go to the beach! Me, on the other hand, I like the pool and I love the beach....but I am a nervous wreck the whole time we are at either one of them. Two of my biggest fears for my children are drowning and choking! (well, in all honesty...the list is a little bit longer than that...but these are 2 BIG ones)

Kaci and Bailey were never the natural "underwater fish" that some children seem to be. Nor were they the " have no fear" kind of kids that other are. They have always been cautious, but curious. I am sure it didn't help that they had me for a mother. The one that tries not to show fear and pain in her face for her children- but more often than not, morbidly fails!

We have taken swim lessons in the past through the city of Cedar Park. Kaci and Bailey learned to blow bubbles- and they learned to sit on the step and kick- but when it came time to go out in to the water and float, they both gave up and cried. With 10 others in the class with only 2 teachers, they were allowed to sit on the side. I took them each week in hopes that they would give in to peer pressure and go in the water- but they never did. They sat on the side.
This year, I decided it was time to learn. REALLY LEARN! I enrolled them in Nitro Swim School- and it was the best thing I have ever done. With only 3 classes down- they are both swimming! Kaci can do the breast stroke and the back stroke. She can roll, do the starfish float and float on her back. Bailey can hold his breath for 13 seconds under water (that is his BEST record). He can do the starfish float, and just last class he swam to the instructor mid-pool!
I am so proud of them. Just look at him go! We go twice a week for 30 minutes and they have already come so far. I am so proud!- I am still nervous, but seem to enjoy the pool a little more each time we go!

"He didn't tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it." ~Clarence Budington Kelland

"He didn't tell me how to live
he lived, and let me watch."
This is the perfect quote to describe my dad.
Happy Father's Day to the BEST Dad in the world. I know... I know.... we all say it- but in my case, it is really true! I have the BEST Dad in the WHOLE world.
We celebrated Father's Day at Rudy's this evening where the sauce is boss!
Bailey liked it!
Kaci tried it!
Grandma Dee LOVED it! ha ha

Lucky Ladybugs!

Ladybugs are kinda' me and Kaci's thing! So excited when I found us matching shirts at Old Navy. Even more excited when I found this cute ribbon....

Feeling lucky?

Love these! So sweet...

"Love is just a word until someone comes along and gives it meaning.”

Thank you, Uncle Chad!
Thank you for taking care of Chelsea, Reagan, Missy Prissy and Crush while we were gone to the beach! (Thank you also to the McGovern family for watching over everyone the first day until Chad arrived)

Thank ,Uncle Chad -for all the goodies you left Kaci from your trip to Mexico! The shirts fit perfect and so did the dress. Thank you for the magnet, the bracelet and the special note.

Thank you, Uncle Chad- for the shirt, the wrestling cape, the coins, the bracelet and the special not you left Bailey. We love you and can't wait until we are in Dallas with you in a few weeks!

“Our memories of the ocean will linger on, long after our footprints in the sand are gone.”

Well- we made our 3rd Annual Family trip to the beach house with PaPa, Grandma Dee, Amber, Mark and Colton- but this time even Daddy got come with us, as well as Brad! YIPEEEEEEEEEE!! We stayed at the Aransas Princess- so NICE! We spent lots of time in the pool. Kaci has really become a fish compared to last year and Bailey is gaining some confidence as well. We start swim lessons on Tuesday- looking forward to it too!
It was a relaxing couple of days and the weather was perfect. Lots of seaweed on the beach and in the water though. Good thing we had 2 nice pools! We spent lots of time in them.
Brad bought an underwater camera before we left. Look how cool it is.

I love this one of Kaci- but really- is there ever a picture of Kaci that I don't love?
I love this picture of Mom and Dad at Virginia's Seafood restaurant too!
- And this is an even better shot of the whole Felchak Family!
I think Bailey will be an actor when he grows up. I told him to stand by the sign and look surprised (although after he read the sign ) I could barely get him to stand next to it! ha! Maybe he wasn't acting!!

Playing shuffleboard was a new treat for the kids too! I love this picture of Kaci! Look at that hair blowing...

The best part of the trip was when Papa got fresh shrimp from the shrimp boat! Took him 3 different tries - as the shrimp boats kept selling out, but he didn't give up- and finally found them when he and Bailey made one last attempt. He bought a few with the heads on to show the kids. Bailey and Kaci didn't want to have anything to do with them- but Colton didn't mind.
Grandma Dee made the best Cajun Dump! We can't wait until next year.

"You seldom hit anything, unless you aim at it!"

Today was the first day of the kids bowling league. Some of you may remember that they were on a bowling league last summer - a team of 3 with their friend, Romy. They were the Pin Pals! How cute is that? Well, this year Romy was not able to be on the team- and although they were upset- they still wanted to have a team on the league.
This year they are a team of 2- and they are keeping their name- The Pin Pals!
It really is so much fun to watch them. They bowl 2 games every Wednesday. Bailey bowled an 80 and a 72. Nice job!!
This is the last year that Kaci can be on the Bumper Buddy league. She is really getting good and can even bowl with her fingers in the ball. She bowled an 87 and a 100.
Way to go, Pin Pals!

"Don't feed the seagulls. They have long memories, big families and no toilet training!"

Here is Kaci getting her first pedicure! Gotta' get those toes ready for the beach!

Way to Go!!

Today was Bailey's last t-ball game! Here is his last at bat. He has done such a great job on the team and made lots of good friends.

Here is his last slide in to home. Gotta' make sure Mommy has to wash his pants! ha

Here is the last run through the Victory Bridge!

GO SIDEWINDERS!!

The last game of the season was at 8:30 in the morning. UGH! Way early on a Saturday- but it turned out to be a blessing! Temperatures are rising quick and it was in the upper 90's today- but we got to enjoy the upper 70's with the game so early. After the game, Coach Ruben reserved a side room at Sirloin Stockade - where we got to enjoy the breakfast buffet with the rest of the team.
Here are the kiddos and the coaches with their trophies. Way to go, Sidewinders!!!

" Life is worth it! "- Kaci Borchgardt on the way home from the swimming pool today! (Priceless!)

She walks down the hallway in silence so deep,
Keep watch over her, as her little one sleeps.
With meter in hand,
she opens her door,
Making sure not to wake her as she crosses the floor,
She sits on her bedside and brushes her hair,
As she dreams of picking flowers,
without a "D" care.
She holds her hand softly;
her fingers so small,
As she watches and wonders why "D" came to call.
While she watches her sleeping, so peaceful and warm,
The forces inside her fight a constant "D" storm.
Will she ever be free of shots and blood testing?
She sits and she wonders as she watches her resting.
The beep of the meter breaks the silence of the night;
A small drop of blood tells if everything's right.
The seconds count down to the final display,
I hate this damn meter; i want to throw it away.
The number is fine, one down, a lifetime to go,
As she turns in her sleep, will she ever know?
Why does this "D" happen to someone so small?
My daughter is my hero, but my baby most of all.
She turns at her doorway, looking back one more time,
It's a nightly routine of the very worst kind.
She walks down the hallway and time passes by,
As she sits in dark silence and quietly cries.
I have to stay strong, and for her i will fight,
We'll battle this "D" with all of our might.
I'll teach her to master and conquer this foe,
This "D" will not stop her, i promised her so.
Gary 2001

Found this online this morning. Changed the "hims" to "hers"
Changed "playing basketball" to "picking flowers"
Cried my eyes out!

There is only one perfect child in the world- and every mother has it!

Kaci made this picture for me with small foam pieces and a few crytals!
I had to frame it.....Gorgeous!
