Today is Kaci's 2 year Diaversary! - Today I just want to let everyone know that .....

Not Fred Flinstone.....



Not Fred Savage.....And certainly not this Fred from the Disney channel! He drives me crazy!!

I love THIS Fred!

I love Fred Banting! He was a Canadian surgeon who invented insulin along with his med student assistant, Charles Best, in the 1920s. ( He also shares my same birthdate -November 14, 1891- of course month and day...not year!) In 1923 Banting and John James Rickard Macleod received the Nobel Prize in Medicine. Popcorn!!!

Just finished making up 12 poster board signs for PACK 565- to help with their annual popcorn fundraising sales! Can't wait to get our "Popcorn On!"

Of course, Kaci was ready to help! She is such a good volunteer!

Bailey will be selling popcorn in just a few weeks. For 4 weeks popcorn will only be sold at various "on site" locations. As soon as we find out where our location will be - we will let you know. We will also be happy to bring one to you! The second 4 weeks, Bailey will be able to go door to door and make phone call sales to anyone who is still in need of filling their "popcorn fix" Listed below are some of the delicious popcorn flavors you will be able to purchase.

White cheddar, cheddar, classic caramel, toffee caramel, caramel corn with nuts, and microwave- light, unbelievable butter and even kettle corn! YUM! Let us know how we can help you get your popcorn fix!!

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Here are a few pictures from our beach trip. (and when I say a "few" I mean it.) My big joke is, "If there aren't at least 50 pictures of an event - it is almost like it didn't happen!" Sort of late posting them. I didn't carry my camera around with us much this trip. Guess I was thinking about other things and didn't want to worry about sand in the lense the whole trip! ha

Once upon a time.......

Learned some exciting news today! At this year’s Children With Diabetes conference, Disney introduced a special new character named Coco. Coco is a young monkey with type 1 diabetes! You may recognize her from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. She is often hanging out with her pals there. She sports a trendy diabetes bracelet and is friends with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and the rest of the gang.Her diabetes will not be discussed on the show- but rather a series of books that will be released a few at a time over the next few years.

The first book is about Coco attending Goofy’s birthday party. At first, Goofy thinks that Coco can’t come because of her diabetes. But Coco and her mom explain that she can do everything the other guests can as long as she plans for it. Coco is a happy, active and well-adjusted young monkey who is excited to attend the party and eager to talk about her diabetes.

Disney is also holding an essay contest. The "lucky" winner will receive a trip for 4 to Florida to attend the 2012 Children with Diabetes Annual International Conference from July 4-8, 2012!!

It's that time of year again! Time to stuff the JDRF School Walk Folders! Kaci has been waiting for them to arrive in the JDRF Austin offices for weeks now! Miss Amy emailed us as soon as they arrived and we headed down to the offices to pick them up! We started counting sneakers in stacks of 10 and cutting the 2000 stickers we recieved apart as soon as we got home. We started stuffing after dinner and finished just over 500 tonight. That leaves about 1, 500 more to go. Kaci wants to finish this group quickly so that we can get more. She wants to stuff more than she did last year.
